The theme of today's session was  trade tests. Everyone completed a 45 minute manicure including either red or french polish. They were told to arrive at class ready to compete their trade tests. During the service the models completed a peer assessment and gave feedback to their therapists.b

Week 2

Students were asked to research local salons with a view to enquiring about work experience opportunities.  All of the identified salons will be contacted regarding work experience opportunities for our students.

The next task required everyone to log onto the below website to build their C.V's. They were then asked to right a personal statement which reflected one of three job advertisements provided. They were told that they should us similar wording in their statements in order to tailor it to suit the different job requirements.

Finally, everyone was given the above  homework.

Nearly all of the level one's completed their homework; those that hadn't were supported to do so at the beginning of the session while everyone else researched local salons. Only half of the level 2's had completed their homework;  some to a high standard and some hadn't engaged with their blogs at all. This was disappointing because the level 2 learners should be more able than the level 1's. The C.V building was a worthwhile exercise for the level one's. However, the level 2's were less keen to complete a C.V using reed as they all had C.V's already. Even though the pace was quick and quite ambitious I feel that the level 1's session was far more successful than the level 2's due to the fact that their was two of us in the level 1's session. Michaela Greaves enthusiasm and confidence was a driver with the level 1's. Unfortunately, I don't possess the same confidence or experience with C.V building and teaching that she does. This is the conclusion that I have made so far.
